Re: MSDOS Autoexec.bat

What is the equivalent Linux concept for MSDOS' prompt $p$g command?

In a symbol;

'>'

Digging deeper is;
--------------------------
C:\WINDOWS>set
TMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
TEMP=C:\WINDOWS\TEMP
PROMPT=$p$g
winbootdir=C:\WINDOWS
PATH=C:\WINDOWS;C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND
COMSPEC=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM
windir=C:\WINDOWS
SNDSCAPE=C:\WINDOWS
BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T2
------------------------------

All '$p$g' is the way the command prompt appears...whoop-de-doo.

You _must_ be talking about win9x/me-reject... ISTR, that win2K, and
XPoop use 'CMD' generally (32bit version of an emulated Terminal) --
yet 2K/XPoop *still* have COMMAND.COM available (16bit, ms-dos,
win95/98/Me-reject .

Now -- I'd suppose you're looking for how to alter the look of some
linux VC or Console ??

If running Debian, the default shell (I think) is 'bash' (/bin/bash -
or /bin/sh) -- so either edit the (~/.bashrc or ~/.bash_profile file)
to your liking -or-if using KDE, adjust through the GUI
preferences/settings in 'Konsole', to adjust the look and feel. If
using KDE, you can also set many preferences (default shell, etc) in
the K Control Center.. whoopie!!

Regards
