Re: Live-Cd with NFS server capabilites.

Hi Douglas
What distribution are you familiar using?
Debian, Mandriva ... a little slackware :)
I'm still learning linux (don't we all?), but i allready know some basics :)

My project is a Slackware derivative:
http://www.xmission.com/%7Eddmayne2/10.2-live/v.0.0.2.8/index.html

I haven't used NFSd (as of now, but I plan to in the near future.) My
project doesn't include nfsd by default, but it can be added.
Unfortunately, my project is not especially user friendly. If you are
looking for an easy to use live cd, then perhaps you should look
elsewhere. But if you know what you're doing, then _perhaps_ this project
could be quickly customized to meet your needs.
I'm sorry, i've been mistaken about the "exportfs" kernel module:
I've connect to my lan an old pc where i'm doing some experiences (trying to
find out the best user frendly solution for low performance machines), and
this a Debian Sarge with kernel 2.4, and this system doesn't have
the "exportfs" kernel module also... it only have "nfsd", "lockd"
and "sunrpc" modules running (same as knoppix) and it was easy to setup one
nfs server and it works fine.

As up right now, i don't have a single ideia of what might be wrong :(
Maybe exportfs module only exists in 2.6 kernels... don't know.
I do everything exactly in knoppix and get this:
# mount 192.168.1.4:/mnt/hda1 /mnt/Rede/Trabalho/
mount to NFS server '192.168.1.4' failed: server is down.

can't find anymore diferences... nfsstat shows server-nfs v2 and v3 in Sarge
system and in knoppix system.

Right now, i'm downloading a newer version of knoppix hopping this is a
already corrected bug.
Looks like knoppix have everything that is need to work, so, i'll give it
another try.

If your live-cd does not have nfsd working, it will not solve my problem...
Anyway, thanks for showing your project to me. Does it have a name or is
just "10.2-live" ?
Best luck to your project :)
