Everytime I open Kuickshow, I have to select my photo directory. There
must be some way to have it open showing a selected directory. I've
checked all the menus, read help, Googled for about half an hour and I
can't find a way to achieve this utmostly complex goal.

samantha:~/Text$ kuickshow /home/me/pics/

...is that what you wanted? Or did you mean the --lastfolder option to
kuickshow that you see when you execute kuickshow --help ?

Yes, that's exactly what I wanted. Instead of starting Kuickview by clicking its icon, I'd rather save time by clicking a console and entering either:

kuickshow /home/me/pics/

or

kuickshow --lastdir

Yeah, it's lastdir, not lastfolder and, on my system, it doesn't work.

Lots of time gained here!

I've used Linux for almost five years now. Is it finally possible
that, despite all the hype, Linux is not where it's at?

I don't know what you want to have happen here. However, I have Konq
set up so that middle-clicking an image file opens kuickshow, to that
image, in that directory

Well, next time you want to open kuickshow to view a file in your /home/me/photos directory, instead of opening Konqueror to get into the right directory, just add /home/me/photos/ (last slash is important) in (taskbar iconicon), proprieties, exec, command. kuickshow will then open in the specified directory.

My problem was I had tried this with The GIMP and kedit before and it didn't work. So I thought a % option was needed. But it turns out not so for kuickshow. Go figure!
