You got the spelling of "where" (it's not were) wrong. HaHa. lol
Anyway i have pentium D 3.0 ghz hp computer. under x86 opensuse, only
pentium 1-4 and celeron were listed. but under x86-64 pentium d and amd
64 x2 were listed. so, i downloaded x86-64 opensuse and burned it to
dvd fearing that just x86 would not recognise the second proccessor. I
am going to install dual boot with windows xp it in a few days and come
back to this group if i get any problems.

for question number 7
Just write your comments below the text you are targeting and
snip away things not relevant. Why bother people scrolling back
and forth?
Is there a demo using pictures that shows few common types of
installations in linux. rpm or yast or anyother kind.
Probably. Google is your friend.
"google is your friend" That's the worst answer i always hear/ what
keywords do you want me to put. Do you got any link?
It is quite often the best answer and a clear sign you haven't
done your homework. For what ever reason quite a few
groups.google users seem to confuse usenet with some corporate
help desk were people are paid to get you going.
additional question, 17
for suse, is it possible to download and install binaries or sources (i
dont know the exact difference) that are made/configured/destined for
red hat or debian any other linux?
As starting guide to Linux:
http://rute.2038bug.com/index.html.gz
Yes. Using "alien".
what's alien too - any link? :-)
Again using google for what it was designed for would show you
the answer in a fraction of a second...But this seems to get
harder every day...
Description :
Alien allows you to convert Debian, Stampede and Slackware
Packages into PLD packages, which can be installed with rpm. It
can also convert into Slackware, Debian, and Stampede packages.
This is a tool only suitable for binary packages.
Good luck
