It is in NO way related, you aren't running Linux!

But it is interesting that the very next thread (as it appears in my
newsreader) is titled "Some bash questions :-)". Nowhere in the thread
is linux mentioned, yet nobody is complaining that the thread is OT.

Can't see the thread, perhaps kill-filed? Might be obvious from
the OP, he is running into problems on Linux?

Point is that a significant number of the questions on this NG are
not linux-specific. Procmail, cron, bash, raid and df, squid, gzip,
nagios, su/sudo, and mysql have all been discussed recently without
mention of any linux distribution. One may generally assume that
posters to colm are running linux but that is not universal. Are you
going to quiz people on what distribution they're running before
answering questions on utilities that run on both linux and unix-like
operating systems?
