Point is that a significant number of the questions on this NG are
not linux-specific. Procmail, cron, bash, raid and df, squid, gzip,
nagios, su/sudo, and mysql have all been discussed recently without
mention of any linux distribution. One may generally assume that
posters to colm are running linux but that is not universal. Are you
going to quiz people on what distribution they're running before
answering questions on utilities that run on both linux and unix-like
operating systems?
For sure not, it is usually obvious from the context that people
run Linux, the more annoying are threads like the above and
people even insisting being on topic. Seems like a sad joke to
me?
My single point is simple, OP doesn't run his stuff on Linux,
hence it is OT in comp.os.*linux*.misc. I am really unsure what
is that hard about getting it?
