I am looking for a way to use any kind of OSS or ALSA audio application
with JACK (Jack Audio Connection Kit). The preferred method would be a
kind of virtual sounddevice that shows up as /dev/dspX or ALSA device,
but is in fact a JACK connection.
Have you tried http://jackaudio.org/ ? Especially have a look at the
"Programming with JACK" section of the of the "Documentation" subpage.
Is this possible and how?
Not sure. From the JACK FAQ on their website, it would seem to me that
the answer is maybe not.
G'luck....
