Is it really too hard to try and train the staff to use Wiki-Tags? It
would probably only take a couple of sessions - an initial one and a
follow-up - plus online help on the Wiki to get people up to speed.

I guess you've never worked with the general public. A lot of people
just *don't get* markup languages, or they're unwilling to do anything
differently, or they don't want to learn anything new.

They don't /need/ to get it, all they need to do is learn the basics.
Wiki tags aren't as bad as HTML and you only need to learn a few to get
a legible document. The OP could even just generate a bunch of template
pages which people could just cut and paste what they need/want.

It might be
easier to use a blog-like approach as Michael H. suggested in the
other branch of this thread if the users aren't capable of grokking
wiki tags.

Michael also made a similar comment as I did regarding the ineptitude of
the 'staff'. Although, of course, it's up to the OP to decide which is
a better use of his time :-) Train the staff or try to fit into their
mold.

Try to sell it to the users as "It's like MySpace, but
work-related and
with no pictures of half-naked drunk girls!" Maybe that'll help.

Perhaps a few strategically placed said pictures would sell it even
better ;-)
