I've been using rxvt for years.
There is no menu to change fonts, but you can change fonts while
the terminal is in use.
Are you referring to the feature of selecting different font (usually sizes),
or an escape sequence for setting a font?
(The former's one of the rxvt features removed in urxvt).
From the rxvt man page:
CHANGING FONTS
You can change fonts on-the-fly, which is to say cycle through the
default font and others of various sizes, by using Shift-KP_Add and
Shift-KP_Subtract. Or, alternatively (if enabled) with Alt-> and
Alt-<, where the actual key can be selected using resources small-
font_key/bigfont_key.
I'm not sure if there's an escape sequence.
There is, for that (I used the idea, different key binding, in xterm).
Now (where I can check), that sequence is OSC 50, which also allows
an explicit font, rather than one from the pre-defined list.
Checking a little further, I see that's changed in urxvt (less functionality).
One of the reasons I like rxvt is the pixmap backgrounds.
Strangely, the performance test I just ran seems to run faster
with the pixmap background than without.
odd. It's not as apparent as it used to be, but rxvt tends to skip
repainting when there's newer data. Could be some optimization like
that, aimed at making the pixmap code work better.
