I just know you all have been waiting with bated breath for the
follow-up to the Tale of the Noisy UPS.
I finally broke down and bought a new one, an APC Back-UPS RS 800
Just FYI/FWIW--apparently APC has been sold:
Oct. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Schneider Electric SA, the world's biggest
supplier of circuit breakers, agreed to buy American Power Conversion
Corp. for $6.1 billion to become the No. 1 maker of gear that protects
computers and factories against electrical outages.
Schneider, based in Paris, offered $31 a share for APC, it said in a
statement today. That's 30 percent more than last week's closing
price. The French company will sell bonds and 1.2 billion euros ($1.5
billion) of new stock to help fund the deal.
