No, it isn't.
It's idea is based on people voluntarily offering their time to answer your questions, and discuss your ideas. It was so back in the days when it started, and it is still now.
That I agree with. But there's a huge difference between discussing ideas and a helpdesk. Sometimes Usenet acts like a help desk, but *expecting* that will always get you into trouble.
