Hai!
I'm sitting here trying to come up with a setup to serve a mixed
network enviroment or windows and linux boxen. I'd like to have the
ability to serve files/printers and also multimedia-type stuff such as
ogg's and mpeg's. I'm well-versed with GNU/Linux (I'm working on
starting to businesses heh) and I currenty use Gentoo, *buntu,
Slackware (yes, I *am* crazy) and I have an IPCop firewall. I've been
mulling it over and I can't seem to come up with anything better then
NFS/Samba to fill my needs. The hardware is a 750MHz AMD Athlon
thunderbird with 256mb RAM and a shitload of diskspace. I currently
have Edgy Server on it... fresh install after I killed Dapper Server
while playing with LAMP and Virtual Postfix (I am the BOFH for lfs1.net
which I formerly hosted here).
heh... ever try to host 8 websites on a dynamic-IP cable connection
with all the standard ports blocked? Save yourself some grief... don't.
:)
