You'll probably want to look at the tutorials first since the operation is
quite different from photoshop or gimp. It's based on the zone concept
popularized by Ansel Adams. BTW the MS and MAC versions sell for $250. The
penultimate version is available for Linux for free.
Okay... but what advantages does it have over using ufraw/gimp for
image editing?
