Re: Linux, why?

Guys calm down a bit, I came here to vent after being frustrated with
trying to install an application and posed the question why? I
expected to get intelligent answers which would make me think that
Linux isn't so bad after all and that I should be patient and in time,
after reading a few posts and a little perseverance the rewards of
using an open source OS would become clear. I didn't expect pages of
non-helpful crap and accusations of being a 'troll'. I have no
interest in causing problems and just wanted advice and maybe a few
words of wisdom to help me out, nothing more. I have no shame in
saying this is my first encounter with Linux and have only installed
Mandriva 2007 on an old computer I had kicking around this week. I am
a total Linux beginner and do not feel the need to have to defend
myself.
Can we all calm down now and can I have some helpful advice, please?
