Trying to get rid of minicom output

When I fire up minicom using my serial port ttyS0 my console
immediately outputs
" Welcome to minicom 2.1

OPTIONS: History Buffer, F-key Macros, Search History Buffer, I18n
Compiled on Mar 29 2005, 09:39:09.

Press CTRL-A Z for help on special keys"

But when I go through a serial mux card I have the output shows the
following first before showing the previously mentioned output:

Is there anyway to get rid of status message?
