I recently updated and tested Red Hat 8 and 9 using timezone files
from the Solaris 9 patch (113225-05). I copied the files to /usr/
share/zoneinfo and then copied America/New_York (for my area) to /etc/
localtime. I rebooted the system. I then reset the date to March 11
1:59am and waited for the clock to advance to 2:00am. The time was
correctly changed. I repeated the steps for Nov 4 and it also updated
correctly. Last check I did was to change to the old date (April 1)
and it did not change the time. So everything worked as expected.
