zip files are better why? And tar is NOT a compressor. gzip, or
bzip2 are.

I didn't say tar, I said tarball, which is a gzipped (or bzipped)
tar file. IMO zip is better primarily because file damage does not
necessarily destroy all the remainder of the file. In addition it
is possible to examine the internal directory, and to extract,
particular components without having to handle the remainder of the
file.

The main problem is that you do not read the instructions. both are
possible for tar as well
