Yes, what I wrote is how my auto.master file looked. I changed it to
your version, but don't notice anything different, if it's supposed to
anyway in the running of the OS.

Do you have /etc/auto.misc? Post it if you do; make it if you don't.
You also need to restart the automount daemon; something like

/etc/init.d/autofs restart

should work. (You need to restart every time you make a change to
auto.master or any file it references; you should umount any automounted
filesystems before restarting.)
