greets!
I'm on SuSE 10.0 on the machine in question using 2.6.13-3. pktcdvd is
installed and also udftools.
I can mount a dvd as udf and write to it but if I try to write a long
file (300MB), it seems to hang or take a superlong time. if it
hangs, breaking out of the process leads to one of those zombies that
hangs on the device so you basically have to reboot to break its
strangle hold. even if the write completes, the situation with the
device seems unstable.
the mount command I am using is 'mount -t udf /dev/dvdrecorder /mt -o
rw,noatime'. I don't espy anything in /var/log/messages.
it would be great if I could get this to work reliably.
I already dreamed so, too :-)
and bought a DVD-Ram Drive, because it works with error-correction and a
Realtime-Defect-Management.
DVD-RW, has no error-correction and rewriteable capacity is lower by factor
100.

get dvd-ram connect it, and the Party´s going on. on and on!

oh, the dvd hangs directly on the mainboard; it is ide. I'd have to open
the box to see make and model. I believe it is master and the only device
on the strap. dma is on.
