I demand that A Watcher may or may not have written...
I have posted previously about my problems with Ubuntu and Mepis. I also
can't play DVDs with them. The Ubuntu player wouldn't work at all

and Mepis played it poorly.
Using what?
This was a DVD that I burned on my Pioneer standalone and it has been
played in other players as well as in MSWindoze on this same PC.
It should certainly be playable, then, although I remember having problems
(long since fixed) with xine-lib and the menus on Philips-created DVDs.

I tried to load PCLinuxOS and the installer blew up with no intelligent
message. Even DamnSmall linux wouldn't install.
.... oh, you meant distributions. You're asking the wrong question; try asking
about applications instead.
