Ah well, if it works, go for it.

Say I am in virtual desktop #1 and launch [an xterm] but I want it to
show up in virtual desktop#3. Is it possible? How do I do it?

Execute "kstart --help" and pay special attention to the --desktop
option's description. HTH,
