Did you delete it from a GUI? If so, might be in the Trash Bin.

Perhaps not. If Linux uses the standard PCDOS FAT the files (or their
names, really) can be recovered with a hex editor.
PCDOS file deletion involves only replacing the first character of the
file name with "?". Now, if someone wants to tell a moron who would
delete needed files and has no backups how to use a hex editor....
