Thank you guys very much. It looks like I cried a false alarm. The
directory was deleted into the trashbin of Gnome GUI, the weird thing
was-- the trashbin icon appeared empty, which was why I got mad. I
thought the directory was gone.

After I booting to Windows, I found the directory sit in .Trash
directory safe and sound.
