I am trying to boot from a Fedora Core Live CD.

What do I type at the grub prompt to start the system? I tried the
following:

grub> boot

Error 8: Kernel must be loaded before booting

grub> chainloader

Error 12: Invalid device requested

grub> install

Error 12: Invalid device requested

grub> help

This just brings up a list of cryptic options.

grub> kernel

Error 12: Invalid device requested

For some reason, you've loaded the grub shell. This shouldn't happen by
default. The Live CD should boot the system automatically without any
input from the user or at most hitting the Enter key. Or it may offer a
boot option menu for the user to pick a particular configuration. The
fact that you've been dropped to the grub shell, indicates that you did
something you shouldn't have or there is something wrong with the CD or
maybe there is a configuration problem with your system.

Did you burn the CD yourself? If so, did you do a checksum on the
downloaded ISO before writing it to the CD, and did you checksum the CD
after the write was complete?

More info would help. Which Fedora Live CD? Specs on your system? What
OS is on it? Etc.
