Ok, I didn't do anything. The prompt appears as soon as the CD boots.

Did you burn the CD yourself? If so, did you do a checksum on the
downloaded ISO before writing it to the CD, and did you checksum the CD
after the write was complete?

More info would help. Which Fedora Live CD? Specs on your system? What
OS is on it?

My laptop is a Toshiba Notebook model 3100S
(Pentium III 550Mhz with 128Mb RAM)

I think the onboard display adapter is some sort of ATI card, (from memory I
think it might be a Radeon 8500).

Hard Drive is 20Gb. Existing system is Debian Sarge.
