know of a memory "eating" utility?

Hi everyone,

I'm testing some embedded linux devices that have a built in memory
usage alarm. I'm looking for a utility or script that will just
consume an amount of memory that I specify so I can test the accuracy
of the alarm.

Does anyone know of a tool that will do this?
