In comp.os.linux.misc sk8terg1rl <sk8terg1rl_2006@xxxxxxxxxxx>:
Hi group,
What made you end up using Linux?
The *freedom*, *openness*, *kernel*, *drivers*, *tool-chains*, apps and,
or packages and last but not least the *Unix philosophy and standards*.
How proficient are you at it?
I seriously switched over to Slackware Linux 1.2 in the spring of 1996
and never looked back since then.
Although I have reported many a bugs including workarounds and, or
patches for many packages and, or projects and am a developer and, or
project admin for a few projects, but in this Linux world which
comprises of some 18-19 thousands open source projects and some 300
distros I still am a newbie :)
What motivates you to spend time getting good at it?
I need not re-boot my machines, not even my notebook ;)
I'm making a living from it and wish I in some and, or otherway could
have appreciated such an industrious effort of hundreds of thousands of
volunteers developers and, or sponsors of F/LOSS (Free/Libre Open Source
Software) projects.
