ffmpeg doesn't do the conversions well (no color and some
distortion),
I have noticed any distortion, but you're right about the
color. I convert videos under Linux and am content enough with
b/w that I've never bothered to try fixing the color mode
support in ffmpeg.
at least the last time I researched the problem. I am hoping a
fix will come along, or later versions of either will remove
the problem.
They've also got RockBox running on non-R versions of the e200
series, but it's not quite ready for prime time yet.
