hello, I want capturing a video from a tv-card and convert this files to a
video-dvd. I am running a debian linux with acdtual kernel.
i capture dv-videos with dvgrab, and convert it with kino there is no
problem.
watching tv with aletv is working fine. but for capturing from command
line i am not sure about the syntax for using mplayer.
You can capture with mencoder. I have scripts that make this step easy.
If you're interested I can post them.
Next, edit the video with avidemux. You can use kino, I suppose; but
I've had problems with it. So avidemux is what I use.
There are numerous tools you can use to convert the video to DVD
compliant mpeg format. These include mp2enc and mpeg2enc from the
mjpegtools package, mplayer/mencoder and transcode. What ever you use,
you'll have to encode separate video and audio streams and multiplex them
using mplex from mjpegtools.
Next you'll have to author the DVD files. This is done with dvdauthor.
It even comes with a tool, spumux, that can add subtitles and create menus.
There are a number of DVD authoring tutorials and other materials on the
WWW. One that I've found helpful is
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=117709. I'm not sure whether
that site is still in existence, though.
