df -hHave you had a look at the DVD in MicroShaft XP? IIRC it pretends to
/home/me/broken.iso 2.6G 2.6G 0 100% /mnt/other
...this is not right. There's 108M of data in the file, yet the
filesystem is reporting its size as 2.6G! Attempting to access many
files on the ISO gives me messages like:
attempt to access beyond end of device
loop0: rw=0, want=5250532, limit=211328
...in dmesg. This means the burn failed partway through, or that the
disc was burned as a multisession disc
understand multisession DVDs. Nero Multimounter might help. I once
rescued a buch of a friend's irreplaceable family photos (read
"non-backed-up" using XP/Nero/Multimounter. They had been sort of
overwritten in a botched mutisession write.
This is why I suggested using the -toc option to cdrecord. That'll tell
you whether something has 2 sessions on it or not. Steve: Did you burn
the thing as multisession? You have to explicitly enable multisession
support with a checkbox in k3b (which you said you used), and you didn't
say anything about that, so I thought you'd just done it in one session.
Also, I don't think a mangled multisession burn would show this
behavior. The first ISO9660 session shouldn't contain dir entries for
files on subsequent sessions. It could've aborted because Burn-Proof
wasn't on, or something. The session=N and sbsector=M parameters to
mount may help, if the disc was multisession, you know which session you
want, and where that session starts.
