The line in file /etc/inittab is:
id:3:initdefault:
but it starts Debian in Graphic X interface.
In Debian, runlevel 2 is the default and runlevels 2-5 are identical
unless changed by the local admin. You can uninstall xdm, gdm and kdm,
or customize /etc/rc*.d so the display manager is started in one
runlevel and not in another. Or you can press Ctrl-Alt-F[1-6] to get to
a text mode login prompt, and alt-F7 to get back to graphic mode (might
not work with some evil binary-only video drivers).
Thanks.
I enable run level 3 in file: /etc/inittab as the following:
#id:2:initdefault:
id:3:initdefault:
and disable S21gdm as the following:
$ su root -c 'mv /etc/rc3.d/S21gdm /etc/rc3.d/K00S21gdm'
now debian starts in command line
.
