Hi!Make sure that you've hooked it up to an Intel SATA port. 965 boards
I have a Intel core 2 duo computer with SATA hard disk and IDE DVD
drive, the problem is that I can't mount the DVD drive, actualy, I'm
not sure my mandriva 07 is detecting it, I've tried to mount it
manually testing a lot of names y /dev but no one works.
I've updated the kernel, the current I have 2.6.20-some, and it still
doesn't work.
¿Can anybody help me?
tend to have a useless JMicron controller and a crappy Silicon Image
controller as well as the Intel ICH8R. The Intel ports work fine, you
should avoid the others.
Sorry, I didn't read you post closely enough. I didn't see that your DVD
was IDE. You are definitely connected to the JMicron controller, the
Intel ICH8R doesn't have any parallel ports. The JMicron controller is a
piece of junk, on my board the BIOS shows all sorts of random characters
if you hook anything to the JMicron. I don't know if there is a driver
for it or not, but I wouldn't bother to find out. The best thing to do
would be to get an SATA DVD drive and move the IDE DVD to an older
machine.
Thanks, I will kick (actual big shoe kicks) my DVD drive then.
