There's three places the active job may be present.
/var/spool/cups/
In memory, cached for the cups daemon
In the printers memory (most printers load the entire page, or even
multiple pages, before they start printing).
Canceling the job in cups, or via lprm-cups, should remove it from
/var/spool/cups/ and the cached copy. Poweroff/on the printer
will clear any partial data, already in the printers memory.
If this still fails, after deleting the job via cups, turn off the
printer, stop the cups daemon "service cups stop". Locate, and
delete the job, if present, from /var/spool/cups, and then restart
cups "service cups start". Run "lpstat -a", to ensure the job is
gone. Turn the printer back on.
