Hey,

I'm running two windows machines; one with and one without a DVD drive--
I want to install FC 7.0 on the one without, so I figured I could do a
network install everyone's talking about. The catch? I've never done one
before. I thought I'd look up a group that might be able to help me out,
and although you're taking a serious flanking from spammers, this place
looks like the right place to ask.

How can I do a network install for linux using my windows box? I've
downloaded nfsAXE and it isn't as straightforward as I could've hoped
for. I direct the linux installer to '192.168.1.102' and to mount folder
'/r' (the FC 7.0 DVD mounted by Alcohol 120% to a virtual drive), but it
kicks out the error, albeit after a long wait, that it cannot mount the
folder.

I'm stumped. I've been playing around with the settings, adding or
removing slashes, all to no avail.

Any ideas?

Yes. Do the install directly off the hard drive on the machine you plan
to put 7 on. Fedora has always had this option, and I used it once on a
machine that refused to boot of the CD drive. (turned out the drive was
bad) The only requirement is that the partition that the DVD image is on
can't be used for the Linux system install. Otherwise, the image will be
overwritten. After the install is over, however, you can use the
partition for anything you want.

It's been a long time since I did this, and I've forgotten the command
that calls up this option; however, it should be listed in Fedora 7's
Installation instructions on their web site. That's how I found out
about it.
