Re: two ideas that i would like to share with world

Robert Riches writes:
Here's the abstract, straight from the "uspto.gov" web site:

A method of swing on a swing is disclosed, in which a user
positioned on a standard swing suspended by two chains from a
substantially horizontal tree branch induces side to side
motion by pulling alternately on one chain and then the other.

Anyone who had spent more than a few hours on a grade school
playground had seen this "invention" being practiced several
decades before the patent was filed and _issued_. There
_HAS_ to be some published literature on the practice.

There may not be, at least not in a place that it would be reasonable to
expect a "practitioner of the art" to see it. If not, the PTO had to issue
the patent. Until they were recently told otherwise by the Supreme Court
the First Circuit (which hears all patent appeals) insisted nothing was
obvious unless someone had published a scholarly paper on it.
