Disabling IRQ#217, the latest Linux installatio failed on Dell Vostro 200 slim tower

Hi there,

I try to install Linux (CentOS 5) on this new and cheap Dell Vostro
200 slim tower.

The installation didn't hang after 'Disabling IRQ' message appeared In
the next screen Linux complains that it cannot find any drivers for
the disk and give me a driver list so I can choose to manually load
from, this is apparently for SATA (right?). But none of the driver
from the list works.

This PC is pretty new. It uses Intel ICH9. DVD drive is SATA, HD is
also SATA. Mouse and keyboard are USB.

Can Linux be installed on it? (I don't want Fedora)

Obviously Vista works fine in it.
