Hm. So what does vncviewer show you instead of the stuff running on :0?

Can someone explain what exactly is SESSION_MANAGER ? Does it have
relevance only in the VNC context or matters even otherwise ?

SESSION_MANAGER=local/clairissa:/tmp/.ICE-unix/7055
It points to a socket on the local machine, at least in my case. Here,
ksmserver has that socket open for ... something. That variable isn't
set in a non-X ssh session.
If an explanation about the same already exists elsewhere on the net,
a link to it will also be greatly appreciated.
