I use Mozila web browser on Red Hat Linux 3.2.3-47. It was working
okay but got a problem now. If I double click its icon for opening
it, I can only see the hourglass mouse cursor for 5-10 seconds then
it's back to the regular mouse cursor. The web browser won't open and
nothing happens.

What was possibly mess up and how can I fix it? I don't want to
reinstall Linux.

You won't have to reinstall linux. At the very worst you might lose
some settings, extensions, stored passwords or cookies, and possibly
even some bookmarks. But you won't have to reinstall for a browser.

On the commandline:

mozilla-firefox

If that doesn't work:

firefox

See what kind of errors you're getting.

But while we wait, did you happen install any new extensions or themes
just before it stopped working? I've had a couple of cases where that's
happened to me. Did you do any updates, especially of Firefox, that
might have put things out of whack?

I've worked in the private sector. They expect results!

Thanks for your help.

Here are what I saw:

- After typing in command: mozilla-firefox, I got error message:
bash:mozilla-firefox: command not found
- After typing in command: firefox, I got error message: bash:firefox:
command not found

This Linux system is shared by a few people, but they said they didn't
install anything on this box.

Thanks,
BJ

Also, after typing in command "mozilla" under command line, nothing
happens. No error message

[root@mylinux root]# mozilla
[root@mylinux root]#

Here is the mozilla package information:

[root@mylinux root]# rpm -qa |grep mozilla
mozilla-1.4.4-1.3.5
mozilla-nspr-1.4.4-1.3.5
mozilla-nss-1.4.4-1.3.5
[root@mylinux root]#

Sounds like the RPM was uninstalled (Firefox) and maybe the path got
screwed up (mozilla).

Try installing/reinstalling Firefox. That looks like the problem.

Also, check where the executable for Mozilla is, since that one failed
to run up:

rpm -ql mozilla | more

It's probably in /usr/bin. You'll most likely find the bulk of the RPM
in /usr/lib. Make sure /usr/bin (or wherever the executable is supposed
to be) is still in $PATH. Make sure the executable really /is/ where
it's supposed to be.

You might also make sure any/all of the other users don't have access
to mess much with the system. If they don't, you might want to look
into whether or not you've been invaded by an outsider who ic messing
with things. This might include any shell accounts of people who may
have figured out how to get access to the basic system directly.
