Hi there,
New user here. I installed the gnome-applets package and as expected
apt-get automatically added 40MB of gnome required stuff. Now I want
to remove the gnome-applets package. I try with:
apt-get remove --purge gnome-applets
But I'm only offered the option to remove the gnome-applets package
alone, about 815Kb. How can I remove everything that was downloaded
and installed along with gnome-applets?
This is a RPITA. There was talk about a meta-package for gnome, so that removing it would remove everything (and, conversely, installing it would install "everything"), but it does not yet exist.
dpkg --get-selections
will list every package you have installed. Then grep for gnome, remove until something breaks.
