I want to set the display of a remote linux machine to my local

set DISPLAY [local_IP]:0 but it doesn't work.
DISPLAY=[local_IP]:0; export DISPLAY

Is the default display of windows (XP) machine is 0.0
typically yes- but it all depends upon how your X server
is set up.
If no, how can I find out the display no.
Check the settings of whatever X server you are running.
Don't forget the display number has nothing to do
with the machine itself- it is only tied to the X server,
a piece of software running on the machine.
