Easy question for someone

Hi, I've got Ubuntu installed on a computer but I cant get Firefox to
access the Internet.

I've got a router with an Windows XP machine, an ancient Mac and a PC
with Ubuntu installed.

The XP machine and the Mac are quite happy but I cant get Firefox on
the Ubuntu machine to work.

Ubuntu was quite happy until I reinstalled it on the same machine.
What I have done is to ping the router 192.168.1.1 the XP machine
192.168.1.2 and the printer 192.168.1.3. I've also pinged Ubuntu.com.
These ping tests have all worked OK.

Has anybody got any ideas what I am doing wrong? I am a bit stuck
because I am too old to understand these things properly.

Thanks in advance,
James
