Running memtest86 overnight would rule that out.
With this kind of problem, a problem in the filesystem or one resulting
from a hosed up mkisofs fork is more probable.
A good advise is to first check a recent original mkisofs from:
ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/
