J. Sommers staggered into the Black Sun and said:
Is there such a thing [as an idiot's guide to compiz-fusion]? I have
started playing with Compiz-fusion and I seem to be able to get just a
few of the uber-cool effects promised: I can get the wiggly windows
and the workspace cube, but that's just about. For example, how does
one get glxgears inside the cube?
"ps auxw | grep compiz" should return a line like so:
me 7115 0.0 0.7 23932 8260 ? S Jan21 0:00
compiz --replace ccp
....for reasons which are unclear to me, in some default compiz setups,
compiz is always started with "compiz $COMPIZ_OPTIONS gconf move resize
minimize place decoration wobbly...." This is a static list of
available plugins instead of "ccp" which allows you to change plugins at
runtime using ccsm (CompizConfigSettingsManager).
Most humiliatingly, the compiz-fusion site does not seem to provide
any info on the subject, probably because they think it trivial.
It's still pretty beta.
