hi all,

Hi,
I am using postgrey and SpamAssassin at home and it is doing a great
job of reducing / marking spam. Postgrey eliminates > 90% of the Spam
and SpamAssassin accurately marks > 90% of what makes it through. In
total we have been getting 99.8-99.9% elimination / marking of Spam.
Below are some stats for the last month or so. As you can see, each[..]
week only a handful out of > 5,000 spam emails make it through to an
end user and aren't marked as spam. This is a great result for us.
Spam statistics: 28/10/2007 05:02 to 04/11/2007 Total number of emails
seen / processed: 6096 Total spam: 5637
Total greylisted: 5532(90.7%)
You are very lucky with getting such a little spam. I am running exim,
with sa-exim running SA (Spamassassin) at run time, including adaptive
greylisting. The amount of spam you get in a whole week is received in
about 20 minutes!
Do you have any hints on integrating postgrey with exim? There seem to
be a few fragmentary howtos floating around...
I use SA + dspam. dspam will train itself to take into account SA header
info.
One problem with my setup is that every email gets handed to SA, which
takes quite a bit of resources, but it results in almost no false
positives. Everything is a tradeoff.....
So it looks like greylisting could be useful as an initial layer, after
dnsbl and reverse dns verification.
