How can it be any easier since they both work identically?
It depends on the camera. On mine, the USB port uses on of those mini
connectors, so I have to find the right cable first. And then, the
cover over the USB port on the camera seems fragile to me, so I have to
be especially careful with it.
So, it's quite a bit more convenient to just pop out the memory card,
and stick it into the card reader.
