Three pairs of mirrored drives managed by a 3ware controller (disk

What will you do when the controller fails four years from now and 3Ware
tells you that they stopped making it? Use software RAID.
Well, the disks are mirrored. So each disk has a complete copy of what
the pair holds.
I could, theoretically, keep one disk out of every pair and connect it
to the main board, bypassing 3ware altogether. Could be a stopgap fix
for this situation.
Active CPU Cooling (with fans)
As long as the CPU is one that doesn't actually need it.
Well, in my case, passive cooling is not enough if I run burnK7 on
every CPU.
Get a little too much on the performance side: 15k RPM drives for
things that matter...
Performance and reliability are enemies. 15k drives run too hot to touch.
Use 5400RPM drives.
I don't know, this particular server has pretty impressive (and loud)
cooling. Aside from the CPU issue that is. I will keep an eye on the
drive temps
