On my 2GB stick, I can only transfer 256 unique filenames.  Something with
mkdosfs and Fat 16.  Might apply, might not.  Try making a .iso, .zip,
.gz, .bz2, .tar file of what you're moving, and see if that helps.
Although 2.4.x has been out of whack for a while.  You might try going
with a 2.6.x kernel.  Lots of things have NOT been backported.  Some of
which might be needed to operate with in the parameters that you're
expecting.

I have to stay in 2.4 kernel. I am using 1G USB memory stick, there
are only couple files on it. I am trying to duplicate a 400M file on
the memory stick. Normally the copy works fine. However if I keep
doing such operation for a long time, it will failed eventually. From
the log, it seems usb-storage: command_abort() is called before the
failure.

I enabled the EHCI only. USB controller in my system is ISP1563, the
processor I am using is MPC85xx.

Thanks,
.
