The stuff in box A is configured and tuned for some particular
hardware. I want to mess with it now, but since it took me ages to fine
tune it I want to make sure that if I somehow break it, I'll have a
pristine copy in a different drive that I can use as before.
All you really need to copy is /etc. Do a clean install of the same
distro that you have on the primary box and then tar up /etc and copy it
to the new box. If you are using static IPs you will have to fix the /etc/
sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ethx files so the new box doesn't
conflict with the old one, if you are using DHCP you won't have to do
anything. To copy your /home directories and any other directories that
aren't OS directories use rsync.
