Knoppix 5.1 boots fine on the laptop as does Damn Small Linux (a
Knoppix variant), but it's not clear to me how to use the wireless
card. I'm assuming that ndiswrapper will be involved, but using it with
a live-cd distribution is a bit beyond my experience level.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
how much RAM and MHz do you have
144 MB and 166 MHz with a 2 GB hard disk. I can install a Linux variant
to the hard disk if necessary.
Wow, this is really bad.
when I started using Linux 7 years ago this week. I admit to slowly
increasing the RAM, I think it got up to 96megs, over the time I
used it, but that was in part because I kept finding RAM in
scrap computers to put in the Pentium.
The only reason I moved to this 1GHz with 256megs in December of 2003
was because it was handed down to me, I could have lived with the 200MHz
Pentium for longer.
If I was buying a laptop, it would be a secondary computer, and I would
be thinking about an older and cheaper one.
Michael
I have 256 MB of RAM and 850 MHZ and it works OK, a little slow but.
quite acceptable.
