What happens if you try to manually set an IP address with ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.1?
Do you have any other machines on the network?
Can you try pinging the machine from one of those?
(use the same subnet as the rest of the network in that case, rather than
just 192.168.0.1)
When I set IP to 192.168.0.1, nothing happened. I'm installing at home, so the intenet line is one which obtains IP via DHCP. The line is VDSL.
